The Mercedes Benz 190SL Roadster (W121 B 11) is undoubtably one of those designs whose perfect proportions continue to inspire even half a century after its production ended. Between 1955 and 1963 this model was considered THE Daimler Benz sports cars whose ownership included film stars and other high profile people.Optionally the 190SL was also available as a coupe, with removable hard top. As the little brother to the far more expensive Mercedes Benz 300SL it still had the elegance and styling of its bigger brother.Enjoyable driving and a sense of freedom: the additional designation “SL” = “Sport light” does credit to the intended driving experience. With its 1.9 litre 4 cylinder, engine the driving performance of the “touring sports car” is perfectly tuned for its purposes.Our car, a cabriolet, in RHD of which approximately only 562 were built, only 25 881 were built in total, and is a matching numbers car. This car has had a nut and bolt restoration done a number of years ago by a well known Mercedes Benz collector here in South Africa. The Mercedes Benz Ponton Series was the first truly new design after the war. The SE Coupe (W128) was built between 1958 and 1960, fitted with a 2.2L In line six cylinder engine with single port injection, only 830 Coupe and Cabriolet were produced, some in 2-tone paint, front bench seat and white wall tires very few were fitted with a Sun roof which this model of ours has. Imported into South Africa from California in the USA, this car has had a ground up restoration by the current owner, no expense was spared in bringing this car back to its formal state. A Matching numbers car with the South African license papers correct. The Mercedes-Benz 190c is well known as the “Fintail” Mercedes.This Mercedes-Benz has been used as a daily runner. The car is in a good condition but in need of rust repair along the side of the car as well as on some of the doors. The car is also in need of a service. The one seat has a small tear and needs attention. Priced accordingly. Otherwise running and in good condition. This vehicle is licensed and registered.- manual transmission- good condition but needs attention- white/cream exterior with red interior- 4 cylinderHistory:The W110 was Mercedes-Benz's entry level line of midsize automobiles in the mid-1960s. One of Mercedes' range of "Fintail" (German: Heckflosse) models, the W110 initially was available with either a 1.9 L M121 gasoline or 2.0 L OM621 diesel inline-four. It was introduced with the 190c and 190Dc sedans in April 1961, replacing the W120 180c/180Dc and W121 190b/190Db.First series (1961–1965)The 190c and 190Dc replaced the W120 180c/180Dc and W121 190b/190Db as Mercedes-Benz's line of less-expensive four-cylinder sedans. The "D" denoted a Diesel engine, a technology pioneered by Mercedes-Benz and championed despite widespread derision in the motoring press.[citation needed] The body was derived from the W111 series but with a 145 mm shorter nose and round headlights (which gave a front-end appearance more reminiscent of the W120/121 "Ponton" models)
