The Mercedes Benz 190SL Roadster (W121 B 11) is undoubtably one of those designs whose perfect proportions continue to inspire even half a century after its production ended. Between 1955 and 1963 this model was considered THE Daimler Benz sports cars whose ownership included film stars and other high profile people.Optionally the 190SL was also available as a coupe, with removable hard top. As the little brother to the far more expensive Mercedes Benz 300SL it still had the elegance and styling of its bigger brother.Enjoyable driving and a sense of freedom: the additional designation “SL” = “Sport light” does credit to the intended driving experience. With its 1.9 litre 4 cylinder, engine the driving performance of the “touring sports car” is perfectly tuned for its purposes.Our car, a cabriolet, in RHD of which approximately only 562 were built, only 25 881 were built in total, and is a matching numbers car. The Chevrolet Constantia was marketed by Chevrolet in South Africa from 1969 to 1978.First series The first series Chevrolet Constantia went on sale in May 1969 in South Africa. It was based on the Australian Holden Brougham four-door sedan, but featured a unique frontal treatment. The styling changes were undertaken in General Motors Port Elizabeth studios in South Africa and the model was locally produced. The Constantia was offered with a 4.1 litre six and a 5.0 litre V8. 843 were sold in 1969 followed by 750 in 1970 and 800 in 1971.Presented in an excellent condition, this car has been well maintained by the current owner for the last 18 years. The original color was Orange with a Black vinal roof, now painted in the current Red, the engine was removed when repainting and also rebuilt. The Mercedes Benz Ponton Series was the first truly new design after the war. The SE Coupe (W128) was built between 1958 and 1960, fitted with a 2.2L In line six cylinder engine with single port injection, only 830 Coupe and Cabriolet were produced, some in 2-tone paint, front bench seat and white wall tires very few were fitted with a Sun roof which this model of ours has. Imported into South Africa from California in the USA, this car has had a ground up restoration by the current owner, no expense was spared in bringing this car back to its formal state.
